(For the record I am neither Catholic or Muslim)
Pope makes veiled anti-Islamic references by quoting some 600 year old text on the violence of Islam. Islamic nations respond by angrily demanding an apology, burning an effigy of the Pope and then issuing threats to the West.
What does that prove? Except that organised religion is just one great big stupid fucked up place where nobody in their right minds should venture.
Was it not Voltaire who said "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." rather than "I disapprove of what you say but if you say it again I'll burn a fucking effigy of you in the town square and hunt your family down"

Ah, it's all such a load of stupid old bollocks. Is it just me, or does the problem seem to be that extremist Muslims are doing now what the Christians were doing 500 years ago: practising a "convert-or-die" policy.

I strongly believe that Religion (any) is what is wrong with the world. All this die or convert bullshit is Millennia old - you would think the last 2,000 years would have brought about some progress. But no. Now we have nuclear weapons to back up zealotry with so we are all f**ked.

Moot point from today but if the Pope is infallible, which is a basic tenent of the Catholic Church, what the f**k is he apologising for?
Has he just disolved the regilion by saying that he IS infact fallible?
Why the hell is anyone other than the Catholics paying attention to what the Pope's got to say anyway? I just don't get it. The Fundamentalist Muslims gave him so much more power than if they had just ignored him. But then again, if you're just looking for a reason to throw a temper tantrum...
Religion is a load of crap, this is exactly why the world should be moving away from it, Islam is the worst out of the lot, is like Christianity 500 years ago.
